The HSRAA has block booked a number of single occupancy hotel rooms (bed and breakfast) at the conference venue, and these can be booked as part of the conference registration.
A limited number of rooms have been reserved for conference delegates to add to their conference booking. All of the room allocation was sold out at the 2017 conference, so please book early to guarantee a room in the conference hotel.
If you purchase an accommodation option, the total amount charged includes your accommodation. However, you may still be asked for credit card information at check in to cover any incidental expenses; this is usual practice. Delegates are required to settle their own account for incidental room, restaurant or bar expenses.
If you wish to extend your stay prior to the conference starting or after the conference has finished, please contact the hotel directly as the HSRAA are unable to make any amendments to accommodation requirements. Similarly, rooms are allocated on a single occupancy basis. If you require double occupancy, please contact the hotel directly and make arrangements to pay any supplement to the hotel.
Accommodation - other options
Once the reserved rooms have been taken, the conference remains open for delegate reservations but you will need to make your own arrangements for accommodation. You can contact the Mercure Hotel directly to check availability of rooms and make your own reservation or select an alternative hotel (e.g. http://www.booking.com).
If you choose not to stay at the conference hotel or our allocation of rooms is taken, there are several hotels within 5-10 minutes walking distance of the Mercure Hotel. Please be aware that Brighton is an extremely popular location for tourism and conferences/meetings. You are encouraged to book your accommodation early as hotel rooms in the area are likely to sell out.
For those driving to the conference, the hotel has a limited amount of on site parking, charged at £18 per night on the basis of first come, first served - there are no reservations possible. An alternative public car park is the Regency Square car park (postcode BN1 2FG). The 24 hour parking rate is £18.00. Alternative car parks can be found at http://en.parkopedia.co.uk.
The Mercure Brighton Seafront Hotel is a mile from Brighton railway station, with regular services to London Victoria and Gatwick Airport. The taxi fare from the station is approximately £5.
The nearest airport is London Gatwick Airport (LGW) which is approximately 45 km from the conference hotel and costs around £50 by taxi. Public transport also operates between the airport and Brighton (http://www.nationalexpress.com and http://ojp.nationalrail.co.uk/service/planjourney/search).
